US Army awaits more AMPVs after arrival of first Mission Command vehicle

The US Army is making progress on its programme to replace the M113 APC, after receiving first Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle (AMPV) from BAE Systems on 1 September. The company delivered a Mission Command variant. 

The M113 is a long-serving vehicle that has been used by the US Army since the 1960s. In recent decades it has undergone a number of upgrades and improvements but there seems to be little scope for further enhancements, paving the way for an entirely new platform.
